Here is just a few quick tips for you if you are having pedalboard/amp rig woes.

  1. Plug into your amp directly (no pedalboard).  If everything is fine then go to the next step.  If not, go to step 3.
  2. Start from the last pedal in your chain and plug your guitar direct into it and out to the amp.  Is everything fine?  Then move on to the next pedal and so on until you run into an issue.  Common issues are listed below.
  • Bad/intermittent cable
  • Input and output cables are switched
  • Improper power available (voltage, amperage, of polarity)
  • Try a different cable.  This is it 90% of the time.  If that doesn't work, try a different guitar.  You may have a jack that needs to be resoldered or other issue with your guitar.  If neither of these helps, you may have a more serious issue with your amplifier and need to take it to your local trusted shop for a checkup.
  • Believe it or not, these simple steps help easily resolve most signal chain issues very quickly.  It is not even uncommon to have more than one bad cable (we tend to hang onto stuff as guitarists....even if it doesn't work).
